This beautiful female cat has befriended a family who are currently staying in Mojacar. Over the months they have observed that she really doesn't like other cats but is very taken with their dog. Sadly they leave soon and cannot take her with them so have asked for our help to find her a family without cats, but with a dog(s). This beautiful young cat was left at the shelter gates just before Christmas. She is a lovely little girl, very playful and affectionate, and gets along well with the other cats in our communal area. If you are looking for a sweet cat with bags of personality, Alessa is the cat for you.

Meet this handsome boy. Arbol is Spanish for tree, he was found tied up on a tree. Arbol is good with female dogs. He is good on the lead and loves to go out for walks. Arbol needs a leader who teaches him the basic rules. He is a sweet boy but can be a little bit wild sometimes. We don’t recommend him in a home with children or other male dogs.

Beethoven is a handsome very friendly 6 year old male.
He came to us in a terrible state, extremely thin, his skin & coat were in a terrible condition & his eyes were bad.
Now after a lot of dedicated care & love from our volunteers & our vet, Beethoven is on the better side of his terrible life he was living.
He had very high Leishmaniasis which after strong medication is now under control.
Enjoys his daily walks with his new girlfriend Whisper & he walks really well on his lead.
Loves to play & have lots of human cuddles, which he gets plenty of.
Finally he is living & enjoying the life he truly deserves but, a permanent loving home would be the perfect ending.
Beethoven will be a very loyal boy to his new owner.
He has been castrated.

Billyy and his brother Bobbyy were abandoned at the shelter almost 6 years ago. They were very timid young cats and took a long time to socialize, but now they are friendly boys who love a fuss and have a close bond, so we are hoping to find them a home together where they have access to outside space as well as home comforts

Foster home urgently needed for Bonita as her owner is currently in the UK and doesn't know when he will be able to return:
Bonita is a female neutered cat, she is 14 years old. She has always been an indoor cat not venturing much further than the back patio at home. She mainly likes to just wander round, find a comfortable spot in the sun and go to sleep. Occasionally she will sit on a lap and enjoys cuddles if she is in the mood. She has no special dietary needs or requirements.

Cappuccino and his 3 sisters were abandoned at the shelter gates early one morning in the summer of 2020. The 3 girls are now homed, so we hope to find Cappuccino a family of his own as he is very sociable with other cats and loves to follow the volunteers around as he wants to be cuddled . He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and tested negative to FIV and FeLV.

Charli's story is a sad one as her owner passed away earlier in the year. Thankfully, one of our valued fosterers took Charli in and have been looking after her for a couple of months. She is, in their words, an absolute treasure. Loves company, likes being groomed and also enjoys relaxing on their outside terrace, but doesn't wander off. Being a senior cat, Charli does have some health issues and is on a special hepatic diet. She doesn't eat big meals, but likes to graze. Charli would be best-suited to a quiet home where someone is around most of the time. We do not know how she reacts with other animals, but feel she would be better off as an only-cat.

Charlie came to us in the summer of 2020, abandoned at the gates one morning with 7 other kittens. Initially he was a shy boy, but he's gaining in confidence all the time and is quite a character. He gets along well with the other cattery cats, (especially Magic and Mystery), and is now fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped & tested negative to FIV & FeLV.

Our beautiful old girl Finja, nearly 12 years old.
Poor girl was abandoned at the shelter gates.
She is super human friendly & wants to be with people all the time, she is not good though with other dogs & we don’t recommend she is homed with children.
Finja is blind in one eye & hasn’t got the best of hips, however she is an old girl.
She really enjoys going out for walks in the countryside where our shelter is based, for her age + bad hips she is a lively girl.
Finja has not been spayed & we will not be doing this due to her age.
An old loving dog just looking for a loving home to spend the rest of the years she has left.

They have a very close bond, so ideally we would like to home them together. Although they enjoy home comforts, they would also like access to the outside world as they have been used to this in their foster home. This beautiful big boy is Harvey.
He was found in a local mountain village called Cabrera wondering around the village.
In the beginning he was a bit dominant but, now he knows us and the routine, he has changed in a happy big dog.
Going to the vet is still a bit scary for him, but, of course it is all new for him.
He loves his walks and is good on the lead.
Harvey can be dominant to other dogs so we are looking for a home without other animals for him.
He is a big and strong boy who needs a strict routine.
Once he knows you he will come to you for cuddles.

This young neutered female is currently being fed by a kind lady on the Valle del Este complex in Vera, Almeria. She is extremely affectionate and seems to have once had a home as she is very domesticated. The lady who is looking after her will be returning to the UK at some point and already has 4 cats of her own, so won't be able to take her with her, so has asked us to help in finding her a local family

James was left outside the shelter gates one cold winter's morning, a very scared and timid cat. He has gradually learnt to trust us and has settled into cattery life with the other cats and kits, but he deserves more than this. All James needs is time and patience and he will make a lovely companion cat. He is neutered, vaccinated, chipped and negative to FIV and FeLV.

This very kind dog is Jamie. He was left at the shelter gates. He is 5 years and 7 months old. He loves people and loves the attention. likes to go out for long walks and is good on the lead.

Lorenzo and his brother Luis came as a pair and would love to remain so as when separated they look for each other. They are both black however their faces are very different and Lorenzo has a small patch of white under his belly. Their personalities are very different too, although very playful and affectionate, Luis is the voice and independent leader where as Lorenzo is the big relaxed softy. They both love a snuggle and are very contented cats and eager for attention. when they arrived they were very shy but within a few days their personalities became apparent and they both stood their ground against their older foster sister. These two would make a wonderful addition to a mixed animal household as they are very comfortable around both cats and dogs. (Description from Lorenzo & Luis's foster mum). They are such happy boys who love being picked up and cuddled, and they do have a close bond, so ideally we would like to find them a home together. Almost identical, the only way we can tell them apart is that Magic has a little white fleck on his chest and belly. Both boys are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped & have tested negative to FIV and FeLV

Moriarti was found and rescued at around 6 months old. At first he was a timid but independent boy. Being a part of a home environment was very foreign to him and I’m certain the entering an environment already inhabited by many (cats and dogs) was a little daunting. Like all newbies he was put to the test by the longer term residents but stood his ground with dignity. After a week or so he was accepted into the fold and has become good friends with the two younger boys. Although he could have had feral tendencies having to be a sole survivor for so long he has proved to be a sensitive and loving member . He has the softest black coat which literally shines and the most beautiful green eyes. He is very easy to pick up and cuddle and particularly loves a bit of one on one attention. Although at the beginning of his stay he looked to the outside, since being neutered has shown less interest in the outdoors. He would make a wonderful companion who is alone or single but also within a mixed animal household. (Description from Moriarti's foster mum). Moriarti is now at the cattery.

Mystery and his brother Magic were abandoned at the shelter gates early one morning together with their mum, Midnight. Pretty Podenco girl Nike, 5 years old.
Nike has come a long way since she first went into foster over 2 years ago.
When she was found the poor girl was frightened of her own shadow, heart breaking to see.
Now she is a happy playful but, slightly nervous girl.
She needs to be approached slowly without any pressure & at first on her terms.
Barks at strangers but when ignored she stops.
She is a hunting dog & will chase any small creature that moves in your garden.
Great on a lead but can react anxiously to unexpected loud noises & will try & run off.
Nike needs a quiet relaxed environment preferably with a confident friend, gets on really well with other dogs male & female, large & small.
No cats or children.
She has over come many if her fears & is now ready for a loving home.

Poppy & her siblings were found by some rubbish bins in the summer of last year. As they needed bottle feeding, they were put into a foster home where they thrived. After one month the foster family suddenly noticed that Poppy's eye was bulging and the vet diagnosed glaucoma. The change was so sudden and dramatic but she was too young to operate on. Thankfully, as time has gone by, the swelling has reduced and the difference is amazing - her eye is cloudy but remains intact. Poppy is a real livewire - she spent many happy months growing up in a foster home in the campo where she had an amazing time exploring, with no obvious signs that her vision is impaired. Poppy has now joined us at the cattery and whilst she is settling in with the other cats and being confined, she does gaze longingly at the outside world. This is Sasha, Very new into our shelter. She was left at the shelter gate in the middle of the night with a male and a female. She is very friendly to people. She really loves the attention and will lay down on her back so that you can rub her belly. She really enjoys this. She is good on the lead but needs to learn the new language as we think she only understand spanish. She is good with her kennel friend and loves to play. Very affectionate and sweet dog

Shaun was tied to the fence of the villa across the road from the shelter.
Very friendly boy with a big personality, loves interacting with people, but, not good with other dogs and cats.
He loves to play with his tennis balls, very active dog.
Good on the lead and loves his walks.
We don’t recommend him to be homed in a family with young children or other animals.
He listen to basic commands but need s’more training.
Loves his food & of course treats.

Sid is a lovely little cat who first came to us in the autumn of 2020. He gets along very well with the other cats in the cattery and enjoys a fuss from the volunteers. He's quieter than some and doesn't push himself forward when we have potential adopters visit, but he deserves a home of his own where he will no doubt flourish

Sunny was yet another young cat abandoned outside our shelter gates early one morning. We cannot understand why as he is such a lovely boy, energetic, playful but also has a very cuddly side and he likes to sit on our laps and knead like he's still a kitten. He deserves a chance with a family who can give him plenty of attention.
